FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

January 8, 2003 JOE> SATRIANI LAUNCHES NEXT LEG OF “EVENING WITH” TOUR HONORED
WITH HIS 13TH GRAMMY NOMINATION & SET TO RECEIVE THE ‘GOVERNORS AWARD FOR CREATIVE
EXCELLENCE & OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT’ IN FEBURARY

(Los Angeles, CA)—Multi-platinum guitarist JOE SATRIANI announces plans to kick off the second leg of his “Evening With” Tour in support of his latest release, Strange Beautiful Music, beginning on January 29th in Reno, NV and wrapping up in Albuquerque, NM on February 7th. This upcoming venture will also include a 2- night engagement at San Francisco’s famed venue, The Fillmore, where SATRIANI recorded his critically acclaimed, gold-certified DVD “Live In San Francisco” in December 2000. With 12 previous Grammy nominations already under his belt, SATRIANI was honored for the 13th time with a nod for “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” for the song Starry Night when nominations were announced earlier this week. This latest achievement comes directly on the heels of the recent announcement by the San Francisco Chapter of the Recording Academy (NARAS) in which SATRIANI will be awarded the Governors' Award for Creative Excellence and Outstanding Achievement’ in a ceremony to take place on February 9th. SATRIANI has released an amazing catalog of 8 full-length albums and 1 EP spanning his thriving 15-year career. He first gained commercial success in 1987 with the break-through album, Surfing With The Alien, and to date he has sold an astonishing total of 7-million albums worldwide, a remarkable accomplishment for any artist. In August 2002, SATRIANI’s exceptional talents were honored when he was named the #6 greatest guitarist of all time by English guitar magazine Total Guitar, finishing just behind legends like Hendrix, Clapton and Page. Last Summer also saw the popular “G3 Live in Concert” DVD featuring SATRIANI’s collaborative efforts with Steve Vai and Eric Johnson on their 1996 trademarked tour, go platinum. SATRIANI has also contributed a track to the first studio album in over 30 years for influential 1960s British rockers the Yardbirds, which is set for release this April. This Spring’s “Evening With” Tour will showcase SATRIANI’s music in an intimate 2-? hour set featuring song selections spanning his entire recording career.
